Grants are awarded by an application process, with JFF’s Medical Advisory Council reviewing applications. Grants are available for those receiving treatment at any of our 3 partner fertility clinics in Cincinnati: the Institute for Reproductive Health (IRH), Bethesda Fertility Center, and the UCHealth Center for Reproductive Health. A reproductive endocrinologist (REI) from each clinic serves on the Medical Advisory Council, including Dr. Michael Scheiber, Director of Reproductive Research and Co-Director of the IVF program at IRH, who also serves on the JFF-CINCY Advisory Council and was a founding member of JFF-CINCY in the fall of 2019.

Through JFF’s partnership with these fertility clinics, grantees also receive a twenty percent discount on treatment. Additionally, the Jewish Fertility Foundation facilitates interest-free loans from Cincinnati Jewish Interest Free Loans of up to seven thousand five hundred dollars. Between the grants, clinic discounts, and loans, most JFF grantees are eligible to receive support worth at least fifteen thousand dollars.

Dr. Mark Mandell-Brown

Celebrating 30 years in practice is a milestone for most physicians.  But for Cincinnati, Ohio’s top voted plastic surgeon, Mark Mandell-Brown MD, it seems like the blink of an eye.   “ If you have a passion for your work, it does not seem like a job,” commented Dr Mandell-Brown.  He added, “ I tell my patients that time marches on, but how did 30 years pass so quickly?”

After attending Northwestern University, (recently rated #9 by US News and World college rankings ) the Columbus, Ohio resident, pursued medical school at the  University of Cincinnati.  He then completed a general surgery internship in Denver before moving to Pittsburgh for Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery.  To complete his training he pursued a  Plastic Surgery fellowship in Birmingham, Alabama.

He had teaching  job offers at Loyola University in Chicago and   University of Virginia at Richmond.  The highly sought surgeon also had job offers in Melbourne, Florida , Los Angeles, and Los Gatos where he could join Olympian ice skater, Peggy Fleming’s husband in practice.  But when an opportunity to return to Cincinnati presented, Dr Mandell-Brown made that first choice. “ I have always loved Cincinnati, the Jewish Community, and the proximity to my parents in Columbus, “ he stated.

He joined a group practice with his medical school classmate, Tom Keriakes, MD.  However, after the group disbanded after two years, Dr Mandell-Brown started his own solo practice in 1990.  With offices in Montgomery and Batavia, he spent the next ten years planning a free standing cosmetic surgery center.

The Mandell-Brown Plastic Surgery center with state licensure and national accreditation by AAAHC, opened in December, 2000.  The facility has earned awards by the City of Montgomery.   The Center was also featured in national publications like Cosmetic Surgery Times for the challenges in re-designing  a home into an  office building.

What are Dr Mandell-Brown’s proudest professional accomplishments in the past 30 years?

•Elected President of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery

•Voted  “Best Plastic Surgeon”  City Beat Magazine

•Named  “Top Doc”  Plastic Surgery by physician peers  Cincinnati Magazine

•Board of Trustees-  Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care         ( AAAHC)

•Authored two Facelift Book Chapters

•Voted   “ Best Breast Augmentation Doctor”   Cincinnati Magazine

•Voted “Best Rhinoplasty Doctor”   Cincinnati Magazine

When asked about future plans, Dr Mandell-Brown replied, “ I hope to practice another ten years!”   With good health,  a passion for his chosen profession, and his own state-of-the-art surgery center, he hopes to continue the success he has so diligently achieved.
