Rhoda Leitner (nee Warshaw) beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away from Covid-19, in Eustis, Fl. on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at age 89.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Jack and Anna Warshaw, Rhoda grew up in Brooklyn where she married the love of her life, the late Leonard Leitner, after his term with the Air Force. They moved from Brooklyn to raise their family in Long Island, NY. Rhoda is survived by her children: Brenda (husband-Eric, deceased) Zweig of Greenwood, IN; Perry (Bobbie) Leitner of Cincinnati, OH; Mark Leitner of Orlando, Fl. and Eric (Kelly) Leitner of Sayre, OK.
Rhoda was very proud of her accomplishments both business and personal. Just after High School she was extremely proud to win the Beldon Memorial Award for being the fastest and most skilled typist in the State of NY. Rhoda was a woman ahead of her time. She successfully started her own business, Rhoda’s Needlecraft (1964-1989) in Plainview, NY, while raising her four children.
Rhoda is also survived by her grandchildren; Debbie, Susan and Lyndsey Zweig, Ryan (Leslie) Leitner, Evan (Colleen and great granddaughter Willa Louise) Leitner, as well as survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
In memory, Rhoda’s departed sisters, brother-in-laws and grandson include: Norma (Murray) Wurwarg, Eleanor (Stanley) Dorfman and Chad Leonard Leitner.
