Donald Lee Taplits, born July 4, 1940, son of the late Dr. Sol Taplits and Marie Taplits, passed away on February 7, 2021 in Israel where he resided with his wife close to four years. He is survived by his dedicated and loving wife Donna, brothers Michael and Bryan Taplits, sister Marcia Taplits Lowe, brother-in-law Chuck Lowe, niece Cydney Wayne, and many cousins.
Donny, as he was known to family and friends, had an undergraduate degree in Math from Miami University and a graduate degree from Northern Ky. University in Quantitative Analysis. He then went on to become a professor at N. Ky. University's Math Department. He had his own math tutoring business for many years and taught math in his own very special way that made it easily understandable and enjoyable for those not as gifted as he. He was a mathematical genius and was offered a radio show to highlight his successful statistical ability in calling football team winners, and Super Bowl winners. He had a special talent for composing music, and is noted for his college fraternity anthem "My Crown of Pearls."
He will be remembered as a loving, husband, a caring uncle, and loving and playfully teasing brother, with a hearty laugh and an engaging, infectious smile.
He was laid to rest in Israel.
