Isaac M. Wise Temple has a busy season planned for the Festival of Lights this year. From the youngest child to all children at heart, there’s a Chanukah event that will provide the opportunity to celebrate the holidays among friends and family.

Isaac M. Wise Temple program WiseGen (for congregants age 70 and older) has organized a Chanukah Bash to celebrate the holiday. The sound of the all-male a cappella men’s group, the Southern Gateway Chorus, will fill the social hall. It will be a live performance WiseGen-ers won’t want to miss. There will be latkes, laughs, friends, and entertainment for all to enjoy. The Chanukah Bash is 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8. There is a cost and RSVPs are required.

On Sundays Dec. 8 and 15, stop by the Sisterhood Chanukah Boutique to pick up gifts for the entire family from 9a.m.-noon. A variety of gifts will be available, making it a great opportunity for children to join in the gift giving. Open Room through sixth-grade classes will have scheduled time to shop during Religious School. All proceeds will go to the Isaac M. Wise Temple Sisterhood’s ongoing charity work.

J.WOOT and WOOTY youth groups will enjoy a Chanukah party from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14. All sixth- through 12th-grade teens are invited to light the Chanukiah, make latkes, play dreidel, and have a blast with other J.WOOT and WOOTY friends. RSVPs required.

The congregation’s traditional Chanukah candle lighting ceremony will coincide with Shabbat on Friday, Dec. 27. For a special multi-generational Chanukah service for all ages, everyone is invited to bring their own menorahs to illuminate the chapel with the flickering light of hundreds of glowing candles. This family-friendly evening includes a dinner with latkes, crafts and activities. The winter weather won’t dominate the festivities, as the congregation will celebrate with a tropical Hawaiian Chanukah theme. There is a charge for dinner. RSVP no later than Monday, Dec. 23. The congregational Chanukah Sabbat Service begins at 6:15 p.m., and the Chanukah Dinner and activities begin at 7:15 p.m.

Families with young children will have their own tailored event on Saturday, Dec. 28. The YoFI Shababa Service and Chanukah Brunch Party starts at 10 a.m. and goes until noon. In addition to the usual music and child-friendly service, a full brunch and Chanukah activities will be provided. Open to members and non-members, siblings, neighbors, family and friends. Please RSVP.

All events take place at Wise Center on Ridge Road.
