Due to the smashing success of last year’s Yappy Hour event at Wise Temple, the Empty Nesters group decided not to mess with a winning formula. This year’s Yappy Hour: Bark & Beer, Wag & Wine, is a dog friendly evening of fun and friendship, and will be at 7:30 p.m.  Saturday, June 22, at Wise Temple field.

Like last year, Empty Nesters and soon-to-be Empty Nesters are invited to bring their dogs (on a leash, please), or just themselves (no dog required). You’ll enjoy wet noses, soft ears, adorable faces, and the most natural conversation starters ever – dogs!

There’s no better way to make new friends than to have a dog break the ice. After meeting dogs and schmoozing with them and their owners, stick around for a super short “Have Doggie Havdalah” service and kibitzing by the bonfire.

With plentiful friends, drinks, laughs, and storytelling, Yappy Hour is the stuff summer evenings are made of. Admission will include beer, wine, snacks and all the unconditional love one can handle.

Over the last year, Empty Nesters have enjoyed Great Outdoors Hikes, traipsing through Caesar’s Creek, Yellow Springs, Shawnee Lookout, Eden Park, Mt Adams, Glenwood Gardens, Liberty and Prospect Hills, and Alms Park. They’ve witnessed waterfalls, city views, wildlife, and how nature can bring people together.

Where will they go next? The next Empty Nesters Great Outdoors Hike is scheduled for 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 4.

Summer wraps up with the Empty Nesters Summer Camp: Adult Take Over! On Saturday, Sept. 7, and Sunday, Sept. 8. Camp Livingston will be the scene of this epic summer camp experience – adult style – where attendees choose their fun and no one tells them “lights out!”

Empty Nesters are those whose kids have recently or fairly-recently left the nest, and those who did not have kids but are of a similar age (49 – 69). Also included are Soon-to-be Empty Nesters, whose kids are in high school and are almost there.

If you’re 70 or older, don’t despair. Wise Temple has an entire line-up of different activities as part of its WiseGen group.

Contact Wise Temple to RSVP for these events.
