For the third time since October, Northern Hills Synagogue opened its doors on Friday, March 10, to young Cincinnati families bringing in Shabbat together. “We were happy to see a large crowd of returning families and we also welcomed a significant number of people who were entirely new to our synagogue,” said Bill Freedman, who assisted his wife Harriet, the principal chef for the evening’s dinner.
Northern Hills’ large indoor playground, directly connected to the dining room, kept the children occupied and entertained throughout the evening, allowing their parents a pleasant opportunity to connect with old and new friends. Along with volunteers, Rabbis Noah Ferro and Samantha Schapera led children and their parents in Shabbat blessings and Grace after Meals.
Dinner featured vegetarian specialties including fried rice, vegetables and tofu, pasta with sauce, salad and dessert.
Northern Hills Synagogue will again host Friday Night Shabbat on May 12. The upcoming FNS schedule also includes: Rockwern Academy on March 31, Adath Israel Synagogue on April 21 and The Valley Temple on April 28. There will be no FNS program on April 7 and April 14 due to the Pesach holiday. The program is currently scheduled to continue into June. For details and further information, please refer to the Friday Night Shabbat website.
Shabbat shalom, Cincinnati!
