(JNS) The Israeli Air Force conducted airstrikes against Hamas targets in Gaza early on Sunday after Arab residents of the zone conducted nighttime riots and demonstrations along Israel’s border, scrambling jets less than an hour after Israeli communities ran for shelter as a rocket warning alarm sounded.
The alarm was evidently triggered by one of many improvised bombs thrown at the border. No rockets were reported.
Two Hamas reconnaissance posts were struck in the Israeli reprisals.
Four Gazans were reported injured, including one seriously by live Israeli fire during the riots earlier in the night. The seriously injured person was subsequently reported to have died by the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry.
Hamas “confusion units” said on Saturday that they would begin rioting with sound grenades, burning tires, explosives and rocks starting at 7 p.m. until dawn, and that they would launch more bomb-laden and fire-armed balloons into Israeli communities.
